Devon and Patty

This is not Devon or Patty. Grant won't let me take pictures of him because he says they always turn out bad, so right off the top...Grant here is a picture of you, bare leg and all. Last night we had Ken's brother Devon and his family over for a barbeque. They are visiting Jenny and Gustavo and the twins in Provo. The bigger the twins get, the harder they are to tell apart.

The excitement never ends.

Another candid shot of Grant. This is how we often see him, texting his friends.

Here is Nana laying on our new wicker sofa.
You can't see it very well, but I made a pad cover and pillows out of an antique quilt top that I bought on our trip to Durango. I love my new little sofa. I go out there often and enjoy the beautiful trees and breezes.

We had a great little reunion with Devon and Patty. It always makes me sad that they don't live closer because I just love being around Patty. She is so much fun. After dinner we played
Phaze 10 out on the deck. Even though she lost miserably, she said she really had fun.

More Summer Fun

Aah, summer! Here we are with Corinne and Kevin taking a little walk around the lake by Brighton ski resort. We had dinner up at the Silver Fork Lodge ( I think that is the name) and had a little walk afterwards. I really love living in Utah. You can't really see it, but there are two huge moose just laying in the tall grass. They didn't care that we were there watching them.

Last night I got home from my first trip to Colorado to see Michelle and Blaine and their family at their new place in Aurora.

Oliver is growing so fast. He's even changed a little in the last month since they moved.

Kimberley and I did a little craft project the day I arrived.

In the neighborhood where they live there is a pool which has a toddler pool. They go there nearly every day.

Two handsome boys.
They have a teeny tiny back yard, but it is big enough for little kids to have a great time.

Here we are at Red Robin having lunch.

You know how much I love soft, furry animals. They have bunnies that just run wild in every one's yards. Look how close I was able to get to this little guy! They are so tame.

I had a great time. I'll be going back in Sept. for Asher's birthday.
(PS. No pictures of Blaine, because he's hardly ever home. All he does is work, work work.)
(But it is paying off. Blaine and Andrew's business is going great!)

Colorado Rocky Mountain High

Yes, John Denver knew what he was singing about. We spent 4 terrific days in Durango, my birthplace. It was a great vacation and here are some photos to prove it.This first night we went to a musical play at the Strater Hotel.
The next day we took a drive out to see some of the old places from my mother's childhood. This is Aunt Edie's house. Obviously, no one lives there now.

Aunt Edie's barn.

This is the school that mother went to. It is now a church.

Next door to the school/church is the cemetery where Uncle Raymond was buried last month.

My dad did a beautiful pen and ink of the Strater Hotel in downtown Durango.

It is very elegant inside.

Did I mention that Gary and Beth met us there on Sat.?

That evening we went to the Bar-D for the chuck wagon dinner and show.

They really know how to serve up the grub.
The cowboy singers there are sooo good and sooo funny.
Too bad the picture of them is blurry.

Durango train station.

The high light of any trip to Durango is the ride on the narrow gauge train that goes to Silverton. Here are some pictures of that amazing day. I've been on this trip many times before, but, I was still thrilled at the beauty and the sometimes scary ride.

This old steam engine still uses the water towers for it's stops to fill up on water.

The views are spectacular.

Sometimes it is a close fit up next to the mountain.

Everything was so old fashioned that I thought I had gone back in time, until we pulled into Silverton and there was a cell tower.
It is a 3 1/2 hour trip up to Silverton, and they gave us just 2 hours in Silverton. It wasn't really enough time to see all of the shops, but we had a quick burger and ice cream.

I took so many pictures that I had a hard time deciding which ones to include here.

There is this one hairpin turn that is a very sharp drop off to the gully below.

At the end of the day we were covered in soot and very tired, but very happy. We decided to celebrate the day by eating in this nice restaurant, just steps away from the train station . We just got off the train and stepped into the restaurant.

I would recommend a trip to Durango to anyone.
